All Christians are called to be friends first in their outlook and dating is also a part of such a friendship. Christians are expected to have a change in attitude towards dating compared to conventional thought processes. In the book of Genesis God says

Genesis 2:24: “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.” (NIV)

Further in the book of proverbs we read

Proverbs 4:23: “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” (NIV)

In Pauls letter to the Corinthians we hear about what Love actually is as follows

1 Corinthians 13:4-7: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Also, young Christian singles need to keep their hearts in check. The emotion of Love is being handled very insensitively and is being abused with little regard. However all of us crave for Love. While there may be many interpretations of love, the verses in 1Corinthians tell us how God so beautifully and so completely defines the delight of the emotion of love.Therefore it is love that should be the source of all inspiration for Christian singles and Christian teens for the interest of dating.

It should however be a deep seated love feeling and not merely a superficially passing phase . Your date should be taken with all seriousness as your path of marriage and you should endeavor to know well about the person you are dating with a healthy interaction, while keeping worldly temptations in check.
